How it works
- Book a phone visit. Pick a time on the Avee Health booking page. Have your BC health card (Personal Health Number) ready.
- A BC doctor phones you. An independent BC-licensed physician calls you at the time you booked.
- Get your prescription delivered. If the doctor prescribes, the prescription can go to Pharmasave Selkirk #1023 in Maple Ridge, which fills it and delivers it to your home.
Who it's for
- People in British Columbia with BC health coverage (MSP).
- People without a family doctor, or who can't get an appointment with their own doctor soon.
- People who'd rather not travel to a walk-in clinic for a common, non-urgent concern.
It is not for emergencies. Call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you're not sure how urgent something is, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 to talk to a nurse.
What a doctor can and can't do by phone
A doctor can usually:
- Talk through your symptoms and give medical advice.
- Prescribe or renew a medication, if appropriate.
- Give a referral or a lab requisition, if appropriate.
A phone visit can't replace a physical exam. The doctor may tell you to be seen in person. Some medications may not be prescribed over the phone. The doctor decides what is appropriate for you.
